Admission Requirements & Deadlines

The certificate program will include 9 units of required coursework and 3 units of electives. Applicants will be screened by the department of music’s audition process for graduate students. Those wishing to later apply for the Master of Music in Performance or Composition may apply up to 12 graduate units from the Graduate Certificate towards the program with the approval of the Master of Music program director. Credits that could apply include applied lessons, ensembles, and elective courses at the 500 and 600 level. If coursework from the Graduate Certificate is applied toward the Master of Music, the seven year time limit for completing the master’s degree begins with the first course taken toward the Graduate Certificate.
